Sanfangqixiang is is an important symbol of the historic city Fuzhou city in Fujian province (popular destination for popular China travel package) and it is still remaining several lanes formed from Song and Tang Dynasties. It is one of the top 10 historical and cultural streets in China, covering an area of 40 hectares. Three Lanes and Seven Alleys is the short name of the ten lanes arranged from north to south in both sides of the South Backstreet in Fuzhou city. The three lanes are Yijin lane, Wenru lane and Guanglu lane, and the seven alleys are Yangqiao alley, Langguan alley, Anming alley, Yellow alley, Tower alley, Palace alley and Jibi alley. Together with the Zhuzifang Architecture Group, the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys are listed as National key relics protection units. There are 159 better-preserve historic buildings of Ming and Qing dynasties, among which including 9 national key protected units, 8 provincial cultural relics protection units to make contribution to China tourism. It is honored as ¡°Ming and Qing Architecture Museum¡± and ¡°¡¯Living fossil¡¯ of lane system in city¡±.
Used to speaking, the Sanfangqixiang got its name because there are seven lanes and other three lanes according to the analysis of its building location. The ancestors of the tang dynasty built a group of neatly arranged New Village along the axes-south street of the city, and then developed in its west side to built a group of other alleys, which became a ¡°fei¡± style construction street whose central axis is South Backstreet. After one thousand years of wind and rain vicissitudes, most of them were named in Song dynasty and formed today¡¯s architectural pattern in Ming and Qing dynasties and finally became the landmark building of the Fuzhou city (an optional destination for China best tours), a historical and cultural city.
Except for the layout structure different from other buildings, the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys also features its uniqueness in its walls, gingerbreads and appearance. You will be shocked by this amazing attraction when traveling there for your travel to
