Apart from the sacred Buddhist Mountain, Putuoshan top China tours is known as a haven of blue sea, golden beaches and sun, ideal for a relaxing weekend. The island boasts a few excellent beaches on each of its corners, among these, the A-Thousand-Paces Beach and the A-Hundred-Paces Beach are the most famous and are regarded as the best beaches near Shanghai. Both beaches lie along the coast on the eastern edge of the island, separated in the middle by a rocky hill (with the famous Chaoyang Pavilion on top), the best place to view the sunrise. The rocky hill also hides the famous Chaoyang Cave.
A-Hundred-Paces Beach
It lies to the east of the Multi-Treasure Pagoda, on the northeast of the Chaoyang Pavilion, adjacent to the A-Thousand-Paces Beach . It stretches 600 meters long, with some cape named 'Lion's tail' in the middle. The beach boasts even and fine sands and uninterrupted rows of waves. It is the best place for bathing, surfing and watching the sunrise. In summer, it is quite charming: the blue sky sets off the blue sea, golden sands set off white waves, and tourists enjoy themselves very much. There is space for more than 1500 people on the beach and the beach is provided with modern equipment such as a lifeboat, a speedboat for sightseeing and a net to keep the sharks away. You can rent tents, & parasols, you can take a shower or even have a stay in a hotel close to the beach. Various water sports activities can also be organised from here, like jetski, parasailing and waterskiing.
A-Thousand-Paces Beach
It is about 1000 meters long. The sand is clear and pure, and reputed as "soft like moss with the color as yellow as gold". Tourists can enjoy themselves by walking on the flat sands barefoot, accompanied by blasts of billows. The beach stretches 6 km from Chaoyang Pavilion to Wanhaiting.
